Nikon D3100: The Sensation of 2010

Nikon is a name of a trusted brand and lately its DSLR cameras have been a centre point of attention in the market. It’s not long ago when Nikon launched its 10.2 megapixel D3000 DSLR camera, and it was a big hit. But now this manufacturer has come up with something even bigger and better, known as Nikon D3100.

Ease of Use

D3100 has 14.2 megapixels which is a considerable increase from its predecessor and now you can shoot HD videos through your DSLR anytime. This model is on the high end when it comes to the specifications but the truth is that it is made for professionals as well as for amateurs. Its software is user friendly and lets you take pictures and shoot videos with ease.

Nikon D3100 Scene Selector

LiveView is probably the most appealing technology introduced in the Nikon D3100. If camera is put in this mode then it will automatically select the type of image the user wants. The technology is improved in D3100 and will certainly be an attraction for DSLR target group.

The Software

Nikon’s View NX plays an important role in D3100’s software and makes it more users friendly. Now you can edit pictures within the camera and can give them professional look in seconds. The latest Nikon View NX 2 is provided with the camera.

HD Video Function

Nikon was using CCD image sensors in previous DSLR’s but now it has converted to CMOS image sensor and the result has been impeccable. The resolution has been increased to 14.2 megapixels and it is combined with EXPEED 2 processor to take the most out of CMOS sensor. This has eliminated 99% of the image noise and has allowed users to shoot full HD videos of 1920x1080 pixels on the go.

The ISO Range

The previous models like D3000 had ISO range 100 to 1600 but D3100 has ISO range from 100 to 3200. The noise will not be completely eliminated but newly applied algorithms from Nikon will certainly bring life back to the D3 series.

D3100 Price

The Nikon D3100 SLR camera is available in USA for about $949 and in Europe for €649. You can find better prices from different sites. The DX 18-55 VR lens is included in the package. Another thing to consider for buyers is that there are lots of similarities between Nikon D5000 and D3100 but D3100 is €100 cheaper than D5000.
